March 2, 2020: Unk Note - Day 112
I not only need a housekeeper/maid, but a personal secretary would certainly help. Today was so busy with changes.
I got a call from CenturyLink (which was Qwest when I retired from the telephone company). Robert was so adamant that I was suppose to have United Healthcare as a supplement for Medicare (even though I said they told me otherwise) that he contacted "his people" and arranged for a representative at CenturyLink to call me. I was correct that UHC will not be a supplement for my Medicare, but I was not privy to knowing that CenturyLink will reimburse me for the monthly premiums for Medicare Parts D and G. The previous two calls I had with them did not generate that tidbit of information. So Robert was partially correct that I will be getting assistance from CenturyLink.
This information will actually save me close to $300 a month. That's big in my book.
He gets a free dinner at McDonald's.
I also got a call from the Physical Therapist advising that my home therapy will resume on Wednesday for 4 visits over two weeks. The switch to Medicare also facilitated this. The therapist (Tarra) is going to focus on getting me in and out of the car to drive.
OMG! I got so excited that I walkered my way down to the car, put the walker into the back seat, hobbled to the driver's door, easily slid in to the driver's side, put my seatbelt on, started the car (it was hot out and I needed the AC), then decided I could test drive a little in the parking lot. On my previous attempts, I did not shut the car door because I knew I wasn't going anywhere. I went to reach for the door handle and my leg/hip screamed at me not to even think about it! Well, that's another fine mess to address. I visualized reaching for the handle to make it so, but it wasn't happening. I had to unbuckle, shut the car off, work my way out, get the walker, and take my sorry butt back to the condo.
Still happy about it though.
Tomorrow I will take my handy-dandy hook with me to pull the door closed. Then look out!
